A long while ago, there was a model on SCM named Jack. In short, he did a video on another web site and all ties with him were cut... but because the SCM video came out after the video on the other site, a bunch of people wrote in to say that he was faking his apprehension on SCM. He went on to do some really hardcore stuff and folks still write in every now and then to cry foul. I even got a long missive last week about it. Because he went on to do hardcore gay video, barebacking even, does that invalidate his appearance on SCM? No. Is it something I'm happy about? Absofucking-lootely not... but sometimes loyalty goes out the window and it's totally a matter of economics for the guys. Let's say we've got a hypothetical, 100%, totally, completely straight guy. He'd probably rather slice off his fingertip than have gay bareback sex but bills are due and he's short on options. Moreover, as the majority of the models are, he's lazy. So, he can either: A) get a "real" job and work months to try and catch up with the back payments or B) push through for an afternoon and make that same few thousand bucks. Consequences like looking like a slut, possible HIV exposure, etc. don't really enter his mind. He just knows if he does what some random guy with a camera tells him, he'll get paid enough to go do the things he wants and pay the bills that need paid. It's an immediate action/reward scenario, with no connection, and consequences be entirely damned. Well, SCM is different. The guys are treated well. Most of them -owe- the company a few thousand dollars because I've loaned them money rather than make them do a shoot when they need the cash. It really is the big playful family that you see in the videos, but like most families, every now and then there's a black sheep, someone who just doesn't get it. Denver is one of those who "just doesn't get it." So, in short, he didn't honor his exclusivity agreement. We've shot about four videos with him already, and folks are going to write in to say that they saw him on another site. The fact that the Denver and Caleb video was shot before we even went to The Island probably won't be appreciated by most who knee jerk react to his appearance here and elsewhere, and I'm trying to preemptively deal with the fallout. As best I know, the other videos we shot with him were all shot before the stuff appearing elsewhere. Like I said, the video appearing here was shot before The Island, almost a year ago to be exact. Ideally, and a good chunk of the time, the videos appear on the site within a few weeks of being shot, but if the same guy shoots a video with two different guys, it usually makes more sense not to release them back to back. With Denver, he just sort of fell through the cracks with the release of The Island and it's requirement to be timed to the Site's anniversary. So, is Denver an asshole? Nah. I don't think so. Would I trust him to babysit a kid or my fish? That's pretty doubtful, too. I think he just needed money and didn't have the foresight to see what he was doing. He killed the golden goose here. So, watch the video, appreciate his progression (though he certainly didn't start off bashful), and just realize the one thing, if anything, that SCM is about is real straight guys and honesty with the viewers. There's a lot of shit out there and I don't plan on differentiating myself, SCM, and now Bait & Tackle from the crowd by joining the chorus. |
